6. International Symposium
on Information Science ISI '98

CALL FOR PAPERS



Dear colleagues,

as you might have found out from previous announcements the 6th International Symposium on Information Science ISI '98 will take place from 4th to 6th November 1998 in the Prague Karolinum as a part of the 650th anniversary celebrations of the Charles University. Symposium on information science, a discipline which was accredited here only in 1996, will take place in the Czech Republic for the first time. Previous symposia were held in German Federal Republic and in Austria.

The main organizer of these symposia is the University Association of Graduate Schools of Information Science ( Hochschulverband für Informationswissenschaft - HI) of Konstanz. The co-organizer of this 6th symposium ISI '98 is the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship of the Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University in Prague. The contact place is the the department of Information Science at the University of the Saar in Saarbücken (address is given further).



MAIN THEME ISI'98:

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS


CONTRIBUTIONS ARE WELCOMED ON THE FOLLOWING SUBTHEMES:

1. Workflow Management
2. Multimedia and Knowledge Transfer
3. Electronic Publishing
4. The Internet as Knowledge Base
5. Recent Developments of Information Systems and Tools
6. The Information Society

Contributions need not to be limited to these subjects.


Further a panel discussion is planned (no predetermined theme) and workshop on the theme "Internet Academy of Information Science" .

Official conference languages are English and German, in student section also Czech language.

The presentation time limit is 30 minutes.

Closing date for forwarding expanded abstracts in English or German. If you decide to actively participate in the symposium please send the expanded abstract as soon as possible, best by e-mail to Saar University (in format doc - Word 6.0 or 7.0 as attachement), followed by printed version, maximum 4 pages in four copies to Saar University [ v.schramm@is.uni-sb.de)].
German-Czech programm commitee will then decide which contributations will be accepted, presented and printed in the proceedings to be published by publishing house of the University in Konstanz. These proceedings are published since 1990 and they have a wide international circulation.

Announcement of accepted contributions


31. August 1998

Submitting definitive version of contributions which will be accepted by program commitee a made ready for printing. Deadline for contributions submitted to contest for best student work.


IMPORTANT NOTICE

Announcement of your active participation at the symposium, which you demonstrate by sending by June 15, 1998 the expanded abstract, will be also your preliminary registration for the symposium. Definite registration form with final program of symposium will be part of further announcement of the symposium ISI '98 (Call for papers 2) which we will send you.
