Project Results

The main results obtained can be divided to three large groups: 1) hydrides of uranium 1:1:1 compounds; 2) hydrides of uranium 2:2:1 compounds; 3) hydrides of PrNi and CeNi compounds. The studies of UCoSn, URuSn and solid solution between these compounds demonstrated that hydrogenation can have different impact on isostructural compounds due to different lattice positions of hydrogen atoms. By studies of hydrides of uranium 2:2:1 compounds we found new group of U-based hydrides, characterized by tremendous changes in magnetism upon hydrogenation including turning non-magnetic compounds to magnetic. The explantion was given by changes in electronic structure. The studies of PrNi and CeNi hydrides resulted in obtaining new hydrides with extremely high hydrogen density.
