In order to have access to libraries, computer rooms, cafeterias, reading rooms and so on you need the Charles University Student Card.

Information and Advisory Centre of Charles University is one of the university centre where you can buy an International Student Identity Card (ISIC). The price is Kč 190.

Charles University provides for its students self-catering accommodation in halls of residence; the capacity is app. 11,000 beds available in 20 halls or residence (in Prague, Pilsen, Hradec Králové and Brandýs nad Labem). Facilities range from traditional halls with shared bathrooms and kitchens to modern flats where two bedrooms share bathroom and kitchen area.
The preliminary cost of accommodation for 1 bed and 1 night is approximately 4.3 - 5 USD (according to the room and location). Students who prefer to live in private accommodation are free to do so, but CU cannot arrange it.
Meals in the refectories are provided on a self-service basis, with a choice of menu at reasonable prices. The breakfast represents 1.3 USD per meal (buffet); lunch or dinner cost approximately 1.5 USD.

We are continually improving our facilities for students with disabilities.
The Office for Students with Special Needs (part of IAC of CU) offers the students to discuss their needs and requirements and provides ongoing support through their time at Charles University. Currently, there are 120 enrolled students with visual and hearing impairment, mobility difficulties and other disabilities. The Office may be reached via e-mail at:

Information and Advisory Center of CU (IAC of CU) was established in 1996. IAC is responsible for collecting, processing and publishing information on studies and lifelong education; providing information on study abroad and international exchange programs. The Center also offers advisory services to its students (e.g. careers, social and legal, psychological, for students with special needs).
The University has 19 central libraries and approximately 400 libraries in the faculties, departments and institutes.
The
Karolinum Press, the publishing house of Charles University, annually publishes app. 250 books for the use of students. It specializes in the publication of teaching texts, academic monographs, learned journals and conference proceedings.
The university also offers a wide range of computer facilities including e-mail and internet access to its students.

The Departments of Physical Education and Sport at the faculties offer a wide range of sporting activities and courses like swimming, skiing, self-defense, tennis, basketball, volleyball, aerobics, gymnastics, cycling, softball, running, rowing, rafting, canoeing, windsurfing, hiking, yoga, fitness. You can also use the University s and public sports facilities (fitness centers, swimming pools, tennis courts, saunas, squash and golf centers) in your leisure time.
