- The EU tobacco products regulation: scope and objectives. Recent rulings by the European Court of Justice;
- The Italian tobacco products regulation: scope and developments over the years and current status;
- The use of product liability to achieve public health policies’ goals;
- The tobacco litigation in Italy: recent developments and remaining uncertainties.
"The precautionary principle: its implications for biotech foods and novel foods regulations".
14:00 p.m.
The lecture will focus on the following issues:
- The precautionary principle under the EU food safety regulation;
- The EU regulation on genetically modified foods and its principles. The relevant case law;
- The EU regulation on novel foods: the concept of novel foods and the authorization procedure;
- A controversial issue: the role played by the precautionary principle in regulating biotech foods and novel foods.
