            Charles University founded in 1348 is one of the oldest universities in the world and nowa
            the most eminent educational and scientific establishments in the Czech Republic which are

            both the European and global context. It is an outstanding cultural institution due to its
            pedagogical results and its unique historical tradition.


            Charles University now consists of 17 faculties (14 in Prague, two in Hradec Králové, and 
            three university institutes, 6 other departments for teacjing, scientific, research, devel

            creative activities, 5 administrative centres serving the whole university. Overall, Charl
            employs more than 7,500 people, more then 4000 of these are academic and research workers.


            Today, almost 49,000 students are studying at Charles University (approximately one fifth 
            students in the Czech Republic) in more than 300 accredited degree programmes with roughly
            subject. More than 15,500 students are taking bachelor´s degree programmes, around 26,000 

            studying for master´s degrees, and over 7,000 students are in PhD programs. There are more
